Install the Paplix KiCad Plugin to enable version control directly in KiCad.

Requirements

  • KiCad 7.0 or later - The plugin requires KiCad 7.0+
  • Operating System - Windows 10+, macOS 11+, or Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+)

Installation Steps

Step 1: Download the Plugin

Click the download button above to get the latest version of the plugin. Save the ZIP file to your computer - you don't need to extract it.

Step 2: Open Plugin and Content Manager

  1. Open KiCad
  2. Go to Plugin and Content Manager (from the main KiCad window)

Step 3: Install from File

  1. Click Install from File... at the bottom of the window
  2. Navigate to and select the downloaded kicad-plugin.zip file
  3. Click Open

Step 4: Verify Installation

  1. The plugin will be installed automatically
  2. Look for the Paplix entry in your plugins list
  3. You may need to restart KiCad for the plugin to appear in the toolbar

Troubleshooting

Plugin Not Appearing

  • Restart KiCad after installation
  • Check that the plugin is enabled in Plugin and Content Manager
  • Verify you're using KiCad 7.0 or later

Installation Fails

  • Ensure the ZIP file downloaded completely
  • Try downloading the file again
  • Check that you have write permissions in KiCad's plugin directory

Permission Errors

  • On macOS, you may need to allow the plugin in Security & Privacy settings
  • On Linux, ensure proper permissions for KiCad's configuration directory
